Keynote Speaker: Tim Vom Steeg, UCSB Soccer Head Coach

Tim Vom Steeg is starting his 26th season as the head coach of the UCSB men’s soccer as the winningest soccer coach in UCSB history with 317 Division I wins. He is a 5-time Big West Conference Coach of the Year and a 2-time National Coach
of the Year.
Just three years after arriving at UCSB, the team
qualified for their first NCAA tournament, since then they have made 15 NCAA appearances, being National Finalists in 2004, and winning NCAA Division I National Championship in 2006.
Coach Vom Steeg grew up playing soccer as a son of missionary parents in Southern Brazil. He attended UCSB and was a 4-year starter for Gaucho soccer and later played two years in the American Professional Soccer League.
Tim began his career at Laguna Blanca and San
Marcos High School.

Then In 1992, Tim helped launch the men’s and women’s soccer program at Santa Barbara City College. During his seven years as head coach, he amassed a 120-18-7 record and in 1996 won the California Junior College State Championship. In 2008 he was inducted into the Junior College Soccer Hall of Fame. In 2014 he was inducted into the UCSB Hall of Fame.
Tim met Almeria, his wife, at UCSB. They have been married for 34 years and have four boys - Justin, Carson, Jared, and Caden - all of whom played for him at UCSB. Justin and Carson continued to play professionally in the MLS and USL. Jared and Caden graduated from UCSB this past June.
